SARASOTA, FL – Internationally acclaimed artist, Andrea Dasha Reich unveils her new exhibition, Flying Colors at Alfstad& Contemporary in Sarasota, March 4 - April 1. Inspired by the organic shapes of nature, Flying Colors features mid- and large-size paintings, sculptures and installations, and opens Friday evening, March 4th.
Born in Prague, educated at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, Reich initially worked in fashion and textile design in New York City, later moving to fine art and establishing her studio in Sarasota. Her work now hangs in private and corporate collections around the world.
“Color, color, color,” says Sam Alfstad. “The impact of Andrea Dasha Reich’s work is immediate and stunning. There is no way anyone can walk in the gallery and see her work – hanging from the walls and rafters – and not break into a smile.”
Using her distinct and individual techniques of working with resin, Reich has created new works for this exhibition, including free-form sculptures – “Crumples,” “Rainbows,” “Tails” and “Tubes.” Displayed as free-form hanging pieces, wall installations and stand-alone pieces, the work draws viewers into a world of beauty and joyful vitality.
“These pieces are three dimensional and explosively colorful, almost mystical in a way” says Reich.
Reich’s Fusion Series, now on display, extends her former painting style in new and exciting directions. Still using the multi-layered technique she has been known for, her new artworks are prints on canvas with multiple layers that include combinations of resin, acrylics, inks and dyes. The result is a stunning, dimensional masterpiece.

About the Artist
Andrea Dasha Reich, born in Prague and schooled at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, is a contemporary, abstract artist residing in Sarasota. She is widely recognized for her pioneering work in epoxy resins.
Inspired by organic shapes in nature and the Bauhaus-influenced architecture of Prague, Reich's abstract artworks are interplays of rich-color spectrums that explore the depth and intimacy of the world we live in. A prolific multimedia artist, she utilizes pure pigments and layers of epoxy resins to create work that pulls the viewer into mysterious realms of curiosity and surprise.
“The most evident aspect of Andrea Dasha Reich’s work is its seemingly unrehearsed look, its improvisational, ebullient feel,” writes Dominique Nahas, a curator and critic based in New York City. “This spontaneous aspect is matched by the same freshness that punctuates Matisse’s work: one that is filled with presentness, with immediacy and with aliveness all the while preserving that balance of universality and particularity, ephemerality and timelessness.”
The works of Andrea Dasha Reich have been featured in solo and group art exhibitions across the United States, and are displayed in private and corporate collections around the world.
